A family firm from Southport
Darker Property Services Ltd is a family-run groundworks and civil engineering company, set up in 2012 and run by Tony Darker from our yard on 187 Upper Aughton Road.
Who we are
Tony set up Darker Property Services Ltd on 15 March 2012. It is still a family business, and Tony still runs it day to day.
Every job is priced and run from the yard at 187 Upper Aughton Road, Southport. We dig, drain, lay concrete and build driveways for homeowners, and we work as the groundworks sub-contractor for builders, main contractors and developers.
Most of our work is within 30 miles of the yard, from Southport and Formby across to Liverpool, Wigan, Preston and Warrington. We go further for larger jobs.
How we work

- Machines from 1 tonne micro diggers that fit through a side gate up to 25 tonne excavators, telehandlers, dumpers and grab lorries

What we do
Everything that goes in the ground, for homes and for building sites.
- Driveways and patios
Block paving, tarmac, resin, imprinted concrete, gravel, porcelain and Indian sandstone, plus dropped kerbs.
- Drainage
New drains, land drains, soakaways, collapsed drain repairs, sewer connections, drain jetting and CCTV surveys.
- Septic tanks and treatment plants
For homes not on the mains sewer. Installed, replaced and repaired, plus percolation testing.
- Extension foundations
Footings, blockwork up to the damp proof course, drainage and the concrete floor, ready for your builder.
- Landscaping
Levelling, new lawns, artificial grass and ponds.
- Groundworks for builders
Site clearance, foundations, slabs, kerbing, attenuation tanks and section 278 road works for main contractors and developers.
- Digger and driver hire
A machine with a ticketed operator, by the day, from a 1 tonne micro digger upwards.

- Cover if something goes wrong on your property or site.
- NRSWA street works accredited
- The qualification needed to dig in a public road or pavement, for dropped kerbs, sewer connections and road works.
- Environment Agency upper-tier waste carrier
- We are licensed to take waste away ourselves, so your muck goes to a proper tip, not a lay-by.
- CSCS cards
- Our staff hold CSCS cards, the construction industry's proof of training and health and safety.
- CPCS and NPORS ticketed operators
- Everyone who drives our machines holds a recognised operator ticket. Cards kept on file for contractors.
- RAMS for every job
- Risk assessments and method statements, the safety paperwork main contractors ask for, supplied for the job.
