Who we are
Darker Property Services Ltd is a family run groundworks and drainage company based at 187 Upper Aughton Road, Southport PR8 5EX. Registered in England and Wales, company no. 07991283. Registered office: Penny Lane Business Centre, 374 Smithdown Road, Liverpool L15 5AN.
We decide what happens to the details you give us, so in data protection law we are the "controller". Any questions, email [email protected] or ring 01704 227671.
What we collect
Only what you choose to give us when you get in touch:
- The enquiry form: your name, phone number, email, the postcode of the job, the type of job, your message, and which page of the site you sent it from
- Phone, email and WhatsApp: your number or email address, what you tell us about the job, and any photos or drawings you send. We do not record phone calls
- If we do the job: the address, quotes, invoices and payment records
When you send the form, Turnstile (Cloudflare's spam check) also looks at your browser and internet connection to make sure you are a person and not a robot. That is all it is used for.
Why we use it
- To get back to you about your job, give you a price and arrange a visit
- To do the work and invoice for it, if you go ahead
- To keep the website and the form safe from spam
The law needs a reason, called a "lawful basis". Ours is that you asked us to get in touch about a job, so we need your details to answer you and, if you go ahead, to carry out the contract. Keeping invoices is a legal duty. Keeping spam off the form is in our legitimate interest.
We do not sell your details, put you on a mailing list or pass them to anyone to sell you things.
Who else handles it
A few companies run parts of the website and our email for us. They only handle your details to provide that service:
- Cloudflare: Hosts this website, runs the enquiry form, keeps the backup copy of each enquiry (stored in Western Europe) and runs Turnstile, the check that stops spam robots using the form. Turnstile looks at your browser and connection, not who you are.
- Resend: Sends each form enquiry to our inbox. Our account sends from its servers in Ireland.
- SiteGround: Hosts our email, so your enquiry and any emails you send us sit in the [email protected] inbox.
- WhatsApp (Meta): If you message us on WhatsApp, your messages and photos go through WhatsApp. WhatsApp has its own privacy policy.
- Google: Google Analytics and Google Ads, only if you say yes to cookies. See our cookie page.
Some of these are American companies. Where your details leave the UK, they are protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK and US data bridge or approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not turn into a job: kept for up to 2 years from when we last spoke, then deleted. That covers the form copy, emails, and WhatsApp messages and photos
- Jobs we carry out: quotes, invoices and job records for six years, because HMRC requires companies to keep them
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Send you a copy of the details we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your details, unless the law says we have to keep them (invoices, for example)
- Stop using your details for something you object to

If you are not happy with how we have handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would like the chance to put it right first, so please talk to us.
